The Costa del Sol is often referred to as the Costa del Golf – the province of Malaga is home to in excess on 35 courses on which this popular sport can be played all year round. The physical geography of Malaga has enabled designers to design a varied selection of golf courses whose technical, sporting and scenic characteristics are as original as they can be surprising. We are going to take a small selection of eight courses that have a wide range of facilities to be found in the province.
Situated in the heart of Andalusia among Holm Oaks and Olive trees, Antequera golf is the perfect inland course. In addition to a practice course and a challenging 18-hole circuit, this stunning setting offers a wide range of sporting and natural pursuits.
This course is situated in the picturesque area of the province noted for its rich Muslim heritage. Located in the Caleta de Velez (Velez – Malaga) this venue is ideal for players of all levels. The course also boasts panoramic views of La Maroma one of the highest mountains in the region, whose peak lies within the boundaries of Granada province.
For those who have been coming to the Costa del Sol in the 1960’s to play golf, then there was only one destination to choose: Guadalmina, in San Pedro de Alcantara (Marbella). The province of Malaga’s debut golfing facility it boasts two courses of 18 and 9 holes.
Aloha golf club
The town of Marbella has another golfing attraction which dates back over thirty years: Aloha Golf club, set in Nueva Andalucia Aloha is a natural course with varied vegetation which ensures that no two holes are the same average in length.
Parador Malaga de Golf
This Course combines golfing facilities with hotel accommodation, attractive sand dunes and various trees and plants adorn this course. Located close to the sea it boasts its own stretch of virtually un-spoilt beach. The Parador features an 18 – hole course, golf school three putting greens and two approach greens
Located in the residential area of the same name in the east side of Malaga, this well know course set in a small valley has 9 – holes and is 2,362 meters long, the unevenness of its green can provide the golfer with quite a challenge.
This is a beautiful golf Course surrounded by a forest landscape and breathtaking views to Guadalhorce Valley, this is a fairly flat course with the exception of certain par 3s, quite a technical course its 6,170 meters from white marks. The quality of the maintenance and reasonable prices make it one of the favorite courses on the Costa del Sol.
La Dama de Noche
Named after an aromatic bush this course can be played at night due to its fantastic lighting facilities making it the first of its kind in Europe to be fully illuminated. Located in Marbella near to the famous port in Banus this course is perfect for beginners or professionals.
